Well-Child Care

The early years of your child’s development are very important. Children grow very rapidly early on, so it’s vital that you make regular appointments for well-child care at our pediatric office. Well-child visits are not only a great opportunity to ensure the health of your child, but it’s also the perfect opportunity to ask Dr. Neberai any questions you may have about your child’s health.

During our well-child checkups, we will do a full examination, including assessing the growth and development of your child to check for any possible issues that may arise. We will take their height and weight for their records, and we may screen their hearing and vision as well.

Even if your child appears healthy, you should still bring them in for regular well-child visits. We can look at any areas of your child’s health that can be improved, and focus on preventive health care as well.

Well-Child Visit Schedule

If you are currently expecting, we recommend coming in for a visit before the baby is born, particularly for first time parents, and parents with a high risk pregnancy. Once the baby is born, your first well-child visit should be 2-3 days after taking the baby home from the hospital. After that, the well-child visit schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics is:

  • By 1 month
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 1 year
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 2 years
  • 2 1/2 years
  • 3 years
  • 4 years
  • 5 years
  • 6 years
  • 8 years
  • 10 years
  • Each year after that until age 21

In between these pediatric well-child visits, you should also bring your child in if they are feeling ill or if you notice any developmental issues. We may work out a customized schedule based on the needs of your child as well.
